ADL Law Enforcement Training Held for Over 150 Arizona Officers
Date: September 6, 2011
The Arizona Region of the Anti-Defamation League, in conjunction with the Phoenix Police Department, recently conducted two full days of training led by two ADL experts. The trainings took place at the Arizona Law Enforcement Academy and focused on two areas, hate crimes and extremist activity in Arizona.
Over 150 officers from 25 federal, county and municipal law enforcement agencies from throughout the state went through the training. Phoenix Police Bias Crimes/Graffiti Sergeant Jeff Young was instrumental in initiating and organizing this training.
Miriam Weisman, Regional Board Chair, and Bill Straus, Arizona Regional Director of ADL, issued the following statement:
“This is the single biggest law enforcement training ADL has ever conducted in our state. ADL’s legendary relationship with law enforcement has always been excellent here, but this training has to take that relationship to a different level. Our hope is that other agencies will hear about what took place here and request similar trainings for their departments."
