Responding to Cyberbullying
As a leading provider of anti-bias training and resources, the A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute offers innovative programming to help schools develop a comprehensive approach to prevent and intervene against cyberbullying as part of a broader strategy to create safe schools for all students.
ADL offers the following interactive workshops for middle and high schools on Cyberbullying:
Trickery, Trolling and Threats: Understanding and Addressing Cyberbullying
Half or full-day professional development workshop for administrators, educators and student support personnel. Participants will:
Identify the unique features and impact of cyberbullying
Explore its connections to bias-motivated behaviors and online hate activities
Learn strategies for empowering students to respond to cyberbullying and for fostering a culture of e-safety among youth Discuss a school’s ethical responsibility to respond to cyberbullying
Examine key legal issues including free speech, privacy, liability and criminal law
Cyberbullying: Focus on the Legal Issues
2.5 hour workshop for administrators. Participants will:
Explore key legal and constitutional issues including free speech, privacy, liability and criminal law
Discuss hate crimes and bias incidents in cyberspace
Examine appropriate school responses to cyberbullying and cyberthreats
CyberALLY™ is a half or full-day interactive training for middle and high school students that provides practical information and opportunities for skill-building that will support students in developing personal strategies for protecting themselves against cyberbullying as well as acting as cyberallies—preventing and taking action against cyberbullying and social cruelty in online forums.
Participants will:
be empowered to recognize and effectively address cyberbullying
explore the connections between cyberbullying, bias-motivated behavior and online hate activities
gain tools and skills needed to respond to cyberbullying and to be cyberallies to others
