Three Days with Police Athletic League
Date: October 25, 2008
ADL recently held three mini-workshops for the Police Athletic League (PAL) of Philadelphia. PAL is a charitable, non-profit organization making a positive difference in the lives of young people in Philadelphia by providing free educational, athletic and cultural after-school programs in a safe environment. Activities are supervised by full-time Philadelphia Police Department officers. ADL's training was focused on helping PAL officers address bias, name-calling and bullying in their centers. Officers from every regional PAL center participated.
During the final session, one officer commented that "the workshop helped reinforce how important it is for PAL to create a safe environment," while another felt that "the training re-opened our eyes to what is happening in our centers every day."
