ADL Letter to the Editor in the Palm Beach Post
Date: November 28, 2012
Anti-Semitic views often cloaked as criticism
By Steven L. Daniels Florida Regional Board Chair of the Anti-Defamation League
This letter originally appeared in the Palm Beach Post on November 23, 2012. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The fact that the letter “Reactions suggest Israel can’t be criticised” was published in The Palm Beach Post is testament to the fact that all views of the complex Israeli-Palestinian conflict are not “stifled” in the U.S. media.
That being said, when criticism is based on factual, demographic or biblical misrepresentations or misstatements, then the criticism of Israel is unfair and often a mask for anti-Semitism. Not all criticism of Israel is anti-Semitic, but when anti-Semitic expressions appear in the media cloaked as “criticism” of Israel, they should be pointed out and publicly condemned.
