Glass Partners in Leadership Institute

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is one of the nation's premier civil rights/human relations organizations.  ADL fights anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry, defends democratic ideals, and protects civil rights for all.  ADL's Glass Partners-In-Leadership Institute of the Mountain States Regional Office is a year-long leadership program created to involve men and women, ages 25-40ish, who are committed to ADL’s mission “to stop the defamation of the Jewish people …to secure justice and fair treatment to all.”

The Institute, which begins in January and runs through December, combines educational programming about the substantive issues of ADL’s agenda with active participation in ADL’s working committees to give participants (Partners) the opportunity to become ADL leaders in the community. Institute participants are drawn from the community by nominations submitted by ADL Board members, rabbis, community leaders, past program participants and ADL staff.  Nominees are then asked to submit a formal application and identify their current community involvement and interests as well as their reasons for wanting to get involved in ADL.  Through this competitive process, ADL recruits and invests in a diverse group of young people who are committed to civil rights, human relations, and anti-bias education, and who recognize that religious freedom for the Jewish people demands vigilance and both proactive and defensive attention.

Expectations of the Glass Partners-In-Leadership Institute include attendance at:

  • Mandatory monthly educational meetings highlighting an ADL issue and/or program area
  • A minimum of two board meetings (held during lunch)
  • One meeting, at a minimum of each of the following standing committees: civil rights, education, government affairs, international affairs, and the Young Leadership Circle ADL’s National Leadership Conference held annually in Washington, D.C.

While there is no charge for the Glass Partners-In-Leadership Institute, all Partners are asked to make a meaningful financial gift to ADL’s annual fundraising campaign. The suggested gift is $250; however, there is no minimum requirement and this suggested amount should in no way deter you from applying for the program.

Upon graduation, each participant will be assigned a mentor who is currently serving on ADL’s board of directors. During the year after graduation, each participant is expected to:

  • Meet with his/her mentor informally four times during the year (time and place to be mutually decided upon)
  • Attend a minimum of two additional board meetings
  • Join one of the many ADL working committees
  • Attend at least three of four annual ADL functions (Society of Fellows Luncheon, Civil Rights Awards Luncheon, Torch of Liberty Dinner, and the Annual Governor’s Holocaust Remembrance Program)
  • Make a meaningful contribution to ADL’s annual fundraising campaign

The Partners-In-Leadership Institute rewards both the participants and ADL by developing future leaders who will continue the fight to “stop the defamation of the Jewish people …to secure justice and fair treatment to all citizens alike.”

Please contact ADL at Denver@ADL.org or 303-830-7177 with any questions or to receive an application.
