No Place for Hate® School Liaison

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
School Liaisons are responsible for communicating and providing support to a school that is participating in the regional No Place for Hate® (NPFH) prejudice reduction program. School liaisons will provide assistance, support and ADL resources to schools during their implementation and participation in NPFH.

TIME COMMITMENT:
2-4 hours per month, Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, August-May

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage and support the implementation of NPFH program in a specific school
  • Attend orientation meeting with ADL education staff to educate students and staff about ADL and NO PLACE FOR HATE®
  • Serve as an ambassador/ liaison between school coalition and ADL during the designation process.
  • Initiate contact with school coalition monthly, providing ideas and support, attending school meetings and NPFH activities.
  • Assist ADL's Media/Communications staff with specific school information and photographs to support the writing of articles, press releases, and newsletters of participating school’s activities.
  • Create NPFH file for each school and maintain school's documentation as the school conducts the program, ensuring accurate completion. Provide this information to ADL education staff monthly.
  • Regularly initiate contact with ADL education staff to obtain or communicate detailed, substantive information necessary to achieve goals of NPFH.
  • Contact school administration, congratulate them on successfully completing the NPFH designation process and assist the school in planning an event to publicly declare their school NPFH.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Comfort with working with a diverse population, an understanding, appreciation and commitment to diversity issues.
  • A working knowledge of ADL and its Education Department’s philosophy and programs.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Taking initiative when necessary and demonstrated good judgment.
  • Ability to represent ADL and to attend school events. Minimal travel within the region might be necessary.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Internet.
