ADL Commemorates Martin Luther King Day in Denver and Boulder
Date: January 19, 2010
Two dozen ADL volunteers marched behind ADL's banner in Denver’s 25th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Marade on January 18, 2010. Participants gathered at ADL to enjoy breakfast and a bit of civil rights history trivia and watched a recording of Dr. King “I have a dream” speech, before joining 30,000 other civil rights supporters to walk from Denver’s City Park to the Civic Center.
For the second year in a row, ADL also sponsored a booth at Civic Center Park, where the Marade ended. Volunteers and staff handed out over 2,000 copies of the Positive Impact! calendar and 1,000 copies of “RESPECT…we all measure up!” rulers created by the 2009 Robert B. Sturm Youth Leadership Mission Delegates.
In Boulder, for the third consecutive year ADL co-organized and co-sponsored the largest civil rights event in Boulder County. ADL supporters participated in a walk from the Pearl Street Mall to Boulder High School, where ADL sponsored a booth and a program at the Human Rights Fair.
