“You Can’t Take It Back”: Understanding and Addressing Cyberbullying

ADL’s Mountain States Region, in collaboration with the Internet Safety Foundation, hosted a successful cyberbullying conference at Johnson and Wales University for educators, school administrators, counselors and school resource officers in early October.
Over 50 people attended and had the opportunity to hear from the keynote speaker, national expert, Dr. Sameer Hinduja from Florida Atlantic University. Dr. Hinduja and his colleague Dr. Justin Patchin have conducted research on youth and cyberbullying for over 6 years, keeping up with the latest trends and changing technologies.
Participants were able to choose from other great workshops including: Legal and Constitutional Issues presented by Joyce Rubin, ADL’s Senior Associate Director; Bullying as a Mental Health Issue presented by Dr. Linda Young, Psychologist; Cyber Safety, presented by Detective Clay Blackwell and Cyberbullying Prevention Strategies presented by Dr. Sameer Hinduja. The conference was underwritten by Symantec, Microsoft Corporation and MySpace.
