Glass Partners-In-Leadership Institute

Application (pdf)
The application deadline has passed for 2009; please check this space in July 2010 for next year's application information.

ADL's Glass Partners-In-Leadership Institute of the Mountain States Regional Office is a year-long leadership program created to involve community professionals, ages 25-40ish, who are committed to ADL's mission "to stop the defamation of the Jewish people …to secure justice and fair treatment to all."

The Institute, which begins in September and runs through June, combines educational programming about the substantive issues of ADL's agenda with active participation in ADL's working committees to give participants (Partners) the opportunity to become ADL leaders in the community. Institute participants are drawn from the community by nominations submitted by ADL Board members, rabbis, community leaders, past program participants and ADL staff.

Nominees are then asked to submit a formal application and identify their current community involvement and interests as well as their reasons for wanting to get involved in ADL. Through this competitive process, ADL recruits and invests in a diverse group of young people who are committed to civil rights, human relations, and anti-bias education, and who recognize that religious freedom for the Jewish people demands vigilance and both proactive and defensive attention.

In order to get the most out of the Glass Partners-in-Leadership Institute, ADL requires all participants to attend:

  • A welcome cocktail reception in August
  • Monthly educational meetings highlighting an ADL issue and/or program area
  • The Shana Amy Glass National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., on May 2-4, 2010 (participants will be asked to pay their own travel costs and a percentage of the registration fee)
  • A minimum of two ADL Board meetings (held during lunch)
  • ADL’s Governor’s Holocaust Remembrance Program
  • Two of three annual ADL functions: o Society of Fellows Luncheon- Partners who have made a meaningful gift to ADL’s 2009 campaign are invited to attend this donor appreciation luncheon at no extra cost
    • Civil Rights Awards Luncheon
    • Torch of Liberty Dinner- Partners are invited to attend this fundraising event at a special young leadership rate
  • One meeting each of ADL’s standing committees: civil rights, education, government affairs, international affairs, and the Young Leadership Circle (strongly encouraged but not mandatory)

While there is no charge for the Glass Partners-In-Leadership Institute, all Partners are asked to participate in ADL's annual campaign by making a recommended minimum contribution of $250 per participant.

The Partners-In-Leadership Institute rewards both the participants and ADL by developing future leaders who will continue the fight to "stop the defamation of the Jewish people …to secure justice and fair treatment to all citizens alike."
