A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute Anti-Bias Education and Training Programs
To accomplish its mission, the New England Region A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute offers professional development training programs and resources for educators in pre-k – 12 public, private and parochial schools to address issues such as name calling, bullying and CYBERBULLYING and to actively promote a safer, more respectful learning environment.
Training programs such as the MILLER EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION INITIATIVE and A CLASSROOM OF DIFFERENCE™ are designed to provide participants with the opportunity to identify, examine, and address personal and institutional prejudice and discrimination; increase awareness of the value of diversity; and develop action plans to implement in their school communities. Since 1985, New England Region’s A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute has trained more than 100,000 educators and other professionals.
In addition, A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute offers the PEER TRAINING PROGRAM to middle and high school students in grades 7 - 12 who participate in 18 hours of training. During the training, students examine personal and institutional prejudice and discrimination, and learn to co-facilitate ongoing workshops for their peers to promote inter-group dialogue, understanding, and respect.
