New York Region Hosts Conference Call with Ambassador Lenk of the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Date: October 5, 2009
On October 5, the New York Regional Office's Lawyers Division and International Affairs Committees sponsored a conference call for NY and National Leadership with Ambassador Lenk of the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ambassador Lenk had just returned from meetings of the U.N. Human Rights Council in Geneva where the Council was urging that the Goldstone Report on Israel's 2009 Gaza Operation be taken up by the General Assembly, the Security Council and the International Criminal Court. Ambassador Lenk gave us an insider view to Israel's response to the Goldstone Report, as well as its path through the UN process and the surprising move by the Palestinian delegation to postpone forward movement on the report for at least six months.
On September 24, Israel's Foreign Ministry issued a preliminary response to the Goldstone report rejecting its findings as biased and unfounded. ADL has called on the United States and the international community to reject the report's conclusions and recommendations.
