Wall Street Journal Editor Addresses ADL's Lawyers' Division
Date: October 16, 2008
At an October 16th meeting of ADL’s New York Lawyers’ Division, Wall Street Journal editor Bret Stephens, delivered a presentation on some of the most pressing issues in the Middle East. Mr. Stephens writes the Journal's "Global View" column on foreign affairs, which runs every Tuesday in the U.S., and is also published in the European and Asian editions of the paper.
Mr. Stephens outlined the political situations in Pakistan, Egypt and Iran, the threats presented by these three countries and the resulting potential impacts on U.S. interests. Mr. Stephens talked optimistically about Iraq, specifically the situation in Baghdad, noting the current stability of the city due mainly to a heavy U.S. and Iraqi troop presence.
Twenty-five lawyers attended the meeting, which was held at Kirkland & Ellis LLP.
