Confronting Anti-Semitism
At times, anti-Semitism on college campuses in New York is in remission; at this time it seems to be alive. Preparing our youth to confront and combat anti-Semitism is a priority for the New York Regional Office.
Glass Leadership Institute
The Glass Leadership Institute introduces a select group of young leaders to the ADL mission. Nationally recognized and offered in more than twenty ADL regions, the Leadership Institute builds a base of lay leaders who are knowledgeable about ADL's work, are committed to ensuring its vitality, and will advocate on its behalf in the community.
Echoes and Reflections
Echoes and Reflections is the result of an unprecedented partnership among three leaders in education: the Anti-Defamation League, the USC Shoah Foundation Institute for Visual History and Education, and Yad Vashem. This resource includes everything teachers need to teach the complex issues of the Holocaust and its lessons for today.
No Place for Hate®
No Place For Hate® is a program of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) that helps schools enhance or create a culture of respect. This program is designed to celebrate diversity and empower members of the school community to challenge all forms of bigotry. By participating in No Place For Hate®, your school has the opportunity to reduce bullying, name-calling and other expressions of bias; create a safer learning environment; promote unity and pride; and live by the core value of respect for others.
Annual Middle East Conference
The New York Regional Office of the Anti-Defamation League - in conjunction with its International Affairs Committee – presents annually a major conference on a timely and provocative issue related to the Middle East. The conference is co-sponsored with a university, and planned with an academic audience in mind, publicized heavily at colleges across the New York City region and surrounding area. Although open to most of the general public, we make a special effort to attract undergraduate and graduate students as well as their professors, giving them the opportunity to see high level speakers on Israel and the Middle East without charge.
Edward Brodsky Legal Conference
This annual conference is one of the highlights for the New York legal community. Nationally prominent scholars discuss and debate an important public issue at this event, where audience participation is encouraged.
Next Generation Philanthropy
The Next Generation Philanthropy Division is made up of young professionals, between the ages of 25-40, who are dedicated to enhancing their commitment and connection to the work of the Anti-Defamation League.
Bearing Witness™ Program
The Bearing Witness™ Program is a unique professional development opportunity for Catholic school educators. In 1996, the ADL’s Washington, D.C. Regional Office created Bearing Witness to provide these with the training and resources necessary to teach their students about the historical relationship between Jewish and Catholic communities and the impact of that relationship on Catholic teaching, catechesis and liturgy. Through Bearing Witness, participants explore the history of anti-Semitism, from biblical times to modern day. Themes include the role of the Church during the Holocaust, recent changes in Catholic teachings on Jews and Judaism, issues of prejudice in contemporary society and practical strategies for teaching students about the Holocaust and anti- Semitism. Bearing Witness is endorsed by the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) and the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
Bettina and Erwin Pearl New York Bearing Witness Institute ™
This is a training program for educators who teach in Catholic schools about the history of anti-Semitism within the Church, how this created an atmosphere in which the Holocaust took place and current Church theology which redefines the relationship to the Jews and Judaism.
A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE ® Institute
ADL's A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE ® Institute is a leading provider of anti-bias education and diversity training programs and resources. The Institute seeks to help participants: recognize bias and the harm it inflicts on individuals and society; explore the value of diversity; improve intergroup relations; and combat racism, anti-Semitism and all forms of prejudice and bigotry.
