Desert Program Features ADL Speakers

Date: October 15, 2009

More than 50 ADL supporters joined members of Temple Har-El at the Tolerance Education Center in Rancho Mirage for an evening program on September 25. Guests received a tour of the new center, led by Director of Operations Melisse Banwer, followed by Shabbat Services, led by Rabbi Richard Zionts and Cantor Melanie Fine.

Following services, ADL Assistant Regional Director Elana Wien spoke on Anti-Semitism on College Campuses, providing an overview of key challenges and trends that Jewish students face on campuses today. Associate Regional Director Matt Friedman discussed ADL Holocaust Education programs including Bearing Witness™ and Echoes and Reflections: A Multimedia Curriculum on the Holocaust. Desert Education Chair Marcia Stein led an interactive discussion about how students, families and the Jewish community at large can best combat anti-Semitism and bigotry.
