Pacific Southwest Region Delegation Returns Energized from ADL National Leadership Conference
Date: May 6, 2009
Young leaders participating in ADL's Glass Leadership Institute from all over the country joined together to attend the 2009 Shana Amy Glass National Leadership Conference on April 19-21 in Washington, D.C. This year's three-day conference brought together more than 400 ADL leaders, including 22 young leaders from the Pacific Southwest Region to attend briefings from Administration officials, ambassadors, Congressional representatives, journalists and foreign policy experts including White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.
The conference included interactive sessions on anti-Semitism, the U.N. Durban Review Conference, the Faith-Based Initiative, and immigration reform. Participants also spent time on Capitol Hill to meet with members of congress and discuss immigration reform, support for Israel and the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crime Prevention Act. The Act passed in the House of Representatives the following week.
