The Anti-Defamation League (ADL), through its Institute for Holocaust Education in the Plains States Omaha office, uses the lens of the Holocaust to view moral behavior and educate students about contemporary issues. The Institute's objective is to provide an understanding of prejudice and discrimination and the harm they inflict upon individuals and society. Our objective is to help individuals understand their connection to the Holocaust and how each of us can work proactively to ensure that history does not repeat itself.
The Tribute to the Rescuers High School Essay Contest is one of the many venues the Institute utilizes to reach students and meet state educational standards. This year's essay contest on Moral Courage is co-sponsored by the Plains State Region ADL; Dana College in Blair, Nebraska; and the Danish Immigrant Museum in Elk Horn, Iowa.
All 9-12th grade high school students are encouraged to participate. Cash prizes of up to $750 are awarded in two age brackets!
All entries MUST be postmarked no later than February 26th, 2009. Results to be announced by April 15th, 2009.
This event is generously sponsored by the Frohm Foundation.
