ADL Takes Education Programs Region-Wide

Date: October 6, 2009

With immigration shifting the composition and complexion across the Midwest, many rural communities benefit from ADL's diversity training initiatives and anti-bias education. This is why the ADL Plains States Office has been expanding the geographical scope of its education programming to help once homogenous communities build unity across cultural differences.

Reaching out to rural areas and small towns across the region this fall, ADL education staff have met with public leaders, school administrators and civic organizations to discuss their community's needs and introduce ADL's signature education programs.

During one recent trip, ADL's Education Associate was the featured speaker at the Iowa City Rotary Club where she discussed No Place for Hate, Addressing Cyberbullying and Making Diversity Count among ADL's most popular offerings. She also met with the public school district's superintendent who noted the significant influx of African Americans, refugees and immigrants in the community and the need for diversity education.
