No Place for Hate® Update

Date: June 10, 2011

The end of the school is a joyful one for students and teachers alike. This year our No Place For Hate® campaign, headed up by Education Project Director Jessica Gall, was a highlight for many of the schools throughout our region as she awarded them with the No Place For® banner. This year 22 schools participated from our region: 19 in Nebraska, 2 in Iowa and 1 in Kansas.

On a unique note, Regional Director Alan Potash had the pleasure of awarding Omaha’s Lewis and Clark Middle School their banner. It was a special moment for him as this was his junior high school. He opened his presentation by recalling the last time he was in the school was on May 6, 1975, the day a devastating tornado destroyed the school. He concluded the presentation by remarking on the positive experiences and relationships he had in junior high as leading him on the path of working to create a greater understanding and respect for people, social justice and civic responsibility.
