A Successful Partnership: YMCA CRS and ADL San Diego
Date: January 6, 2012
For several years, the ADL San Diego office and the YMCA Childcare Resource Service (CRS) have collaborated on providing diversity training to the early childhood community in San Diego County.
Recently, early childhood educators and family childcare providers attended trainings to further their commitment to promoting a bias-free early childhood environment. During these trainings, participants receive a guidebook filled with interactive activities that can be employed in their respective classrooms. Using the resource, an educator shared that she forwards to "bringing awareness of how much attention needs to be placed on cultural diversity in the classroom." Another component of the training encourages participants to increase their self-awareness as it relates to their identities. Another educator realized that "we all have similar needs, wants, and dreams; we just have different ways of getting there.” The next diversity trainings are scheduled for April and May 2012. Please sign up on YMCA CRS’s CATS Training Calendar.
The Miller Early Childhood Initiative trainings are delivered throughout San Diego County through the generous support of the Leichtag Foundation.
