College Campus Programming
The ADL Santa Barbara office offers a variety of programs for college campuses customized to the specific needs of the institution. Many of the programs focus on diversity education and are based on our A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute offerings.
Community of Respect Community of Respect™
This innovative community-wide anti-bias initiative is based on the Anti-Defamation League’s successful No Place for Hate® Campaign. The Community of Respect™ program provides the tools and resources to help individuals and organizations fight prejudice, bigotry, discrimination, and engender respect and appreciation for diversity. Launched in 2008, this initiative is a customizable and results-driven project that is available to organizations and businesses in the tri-counties region.
Glass Leadership Institute
The Glass Leadership Institute is ADL's emerging leadership program- identifying, training and encouraging young Jewish leaders to become involved with ADL throughout their lives. Participants are selected based on their potential leadership qualities and their sincere interest in the program.
Law Enforcement Trainings
The Santa Barbara region provides trainings to law enforcement agencies and personnel in the areas of extremism and hate groups and the nature and understanding of hate crimes. Our civil rights counsel and investigative researcher in Los Angeles provide the trainings.
The Miller Early Childhood Initiative
The Miller Early Childhood Initiative of A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute provides anti-bias training and resources for the early childhood community. The goal of The Initiative is to assist caregivers, educators, and families in creating and sustaining bias-free early childhood programs and homes that encourage children to appreciate diversity at an age when the seeds of prejudice begin to take root.
National Youth Leadership Mission
This bi-annual three-day trip brings delegations of up to 10 students from our region together with students from across the country to visit the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. Students learn leadership skills while discussing the universal lessons of the Holocaust, and exploring ways to combat bigotry and bias in their daily lives. Students undergo an intensive and competitive interview process in order to qualify for the program.
No Place for Hate® Logo No Place for Hate®
The No Place for Hate® Campaign provides educators and students with the resources to ensure that anti-bias and diversity education are an integral part of the school curriculum. No Place for Hate® helps create and sustain inclusive school environments where all students feel valued and have the opportunity to succeed by promoting respect for individual difference while challenging bigotry and prejudice.
Security Awareness for Jewish Institutions
A long-time leader in security preparedness, the ADL Santa Barbara Office works closely with Jewish institutions in the Tri-Counties to encourage them to have adequate protection, by providing practical advice on security concerns to synagogues and other Jewish institutions.
