Defiant Requiem:  Verdi at Terezín
“We Will Sing to the Nazis What We Cannot Say to Them”

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus

Woodruff Arts Center

Defiant Requiem: Verdi at Terezín tells the story of courageous Jewish prisoners in the Theresienstadt Concentration Camp during World War II who learned Verdi’s Requiem Mass by rote and then performed this compelling work as a statement of defiance and resistance, answering the worst of mankind with the best of mankind.

A moving multi-media concert featuring testimony from Terezin survivors and documentary film footage from the camp.
