Austin Highlight School of the Month

This month's Austin Highlight School is Brookhollow Elementary School in the Plugerville ISD.  Brookhollow students and teachers are working toward earning their first No Place for Hate® designation. 

Their activities included:

• An anti-bullying presentation by the National Basketball Association development team, the Austin Toros
• A No Place for Hate® presentation on friends around the world and taking down barriers to peace by No Place for Hate® coalition students
• Lunch meetings by No Place for Hate® coalition students to discuss activities for the No Place for Hate® designation and other ways to create and support a campus dedicated to respect
   

Even before the school year began, Brookhollow Elementary Staff started the process of becoming a No Place for Hate® campus.  They listened to a presentation by ADL Austin No Place for Hate® Coordinator Megan Flowers about the initiative and ADL resources.  Staff and faculty have committed to working hard with students to create more anti-bias programming and to encourage students to be welcoming, inclusive, and respectful.
