About the Torch of Liberty Award
The Austin Torch of Liberty Award honors community leaders who promote respect, fight hatred and bigotry and support fair treatment for all citizens. According to ADL Austin Council Chair Steve Adler, the Rudys' leadership "has benefitted many diverse causes that seek to protect and defend those among us who might be the target of prejudice and indifference and also those which seek to make our community a more wonderful place in which to live," including the Anti-Defamation League, Equality Texas, Opportunity Austin, and the Hill Country Conservancy.
