Austin Torch of Liberty Dinner Innovative, Fresh
Date: January 19, 2010
ADL's Austin Council has created a new look for Torch of Liberty Dinners with an innovative event that combines new media with traditional methods to educate attendees about ADL's reach through its programs and services. The event's live and recorded testimonials, after-party, and micro-website encompass ideas that have been used for the first time with such an event, and ADL hopes they will continue to be effective.
The dinner, honoring Kirk and Amy Rudy with the 2010 Austin Torch of Liberty Award, and James Armstrong and Larry Connelly with the Raymond and Audrey Maislin Humanitarian Award, also reached its financial goal the second week of December, with the event occurring January 28.
"We are very fortunate to have a community that is anxious to learn about and seems very supportive of the ADL mission," said ADL Austin Council Chair Steve Adler. "We also were lucky to have great honorees and an event committee led by Eugene Sepulveda and Shelley Zausmer, and they and others on the committee worked very hard to make sure our financial goals were not only met, but exceeded." He added, "They also planned a program that is technologically and programmatically creative and innovative, representing the best spirit of Austin." .
