Houston Aeros Receive Community of Respect™ Designation on Aeros Community of Respect™ Day
Date: November 14, 2008
November has been a banner month for ADL's Community of Respect™ Initiative. In all, twenty seven businesses, community organizations, and faith institutions have achieved their Community of Respect™ designations during the month. That amounts to more in one month than in all of 2008 prior to November!
One of the November designees, The Houston Aeros Hockey Team, is the first professional sports team to be designated a Community of Respect™. The team officially will receive its Community of Respect™ designation during an intermission at the team's 4:05 p.m. game against the Milwaukee Admirals, November 30.
Among the activities the Aeros participated in to receive the designation: players built bicycles and donated them to minority children in need, and worked with senior citizens during the holiday season.
"The Houston Aeros Hockey team and staff are proud to be designated as a Community of Respect™. We consider it a privilege to reach out to diverse communities that are often neglected and will provide assistance wherever needed," said Carrie Camero, Manager of Houston Aeros Charities.
The Aeros also have committed to promoting the Community of Respect™ Initiative by declaring the November 30 game "Community of Respect™ Day" and providing 100 free tickets to the game for Community of Respect™ Partners. If you're interested in tickets, or want to know more about how to become a Community of Respect™ call the ADL’s Southwest Regional Office at 713-627-3490.
