Growing List of Law Firms Becoming a Community of Respect™

Date: March 31, 2008

ADL's Community of Respect™ program is attracting a growing number of law firms. Law firms top the numbers of businesses joining the Community of Respect™ program, and the numbers have been increasing almost monthly for the past several months. Among top law firms receiving the Community of Respect™ designation, Thompson & Knight LLP, Fulbright & Jaworski LLP, Mills, Higbie, Harberg & Huvard LLP, Vinson & Elkins LLP, Weil, Gotshal and Manges LLP, and Abrams, Scott & Bickley LLP.

Among the projects the firms completed to receive the designation, Fulbright & Jaworski implemented a diversity policy that is promoted throughout the year at the firm; Weil, Gotshal & Manges planned year-round diversity events, including seminars for staff broadcast on satellite to all the firm's offices; Vinson & Elkins created a Women's Career Development Council to recruit, retain and promote female attorneys; Thompson & Knight hosted a series of Diversity and Inclusion speaking engagements; Mills, Harberg, Higbie and Huvard held a Religious Experience luncheon, including a roundtable discussion between Christian and Jewish employees; and Abrams, Scott & Bickley publicized and purchased tickets to attend diversity-related film and theater events including a showing of "Steel Toes," which was followed by a panel discussion led by ADL.
