Community of Respect® Initiative 2011 Fact Sheet
Thank you for your interest in the Anti-Defamation League's (ADL's) Community of Respect® Initiative. We hope that your business, organization or house of worship will become a 2011 Community of Respect® Partner.
What is the ADL and the Community of Respect® Initiative? The ADL is a civil rights and human relations organization dedicated to combating anti-Semitism, prejudice and discrimination, and to securing justice and fair treatment for all. Inspired by ADL's No Place for Hate® Initiative in more than 400 schools, ADL's Community of Respect® Initiative was launched in 2006 to help businesses, houses of worship and organizations demonstrate their appreciation for diversity and inclusiveness and reject bigotry, prejudice and discrimination through fun and interactive activities and learning experiences.
Houston Mayor Annise Parker serves as Honorary Chair of the Community of Respect® Initiative. The initiative helps Community of Respect® participants:
- Demonstrate and highlight their appreciation of diversity
- Encourage inclusiveness
- Empower individuals to reject prejudice and discrimination
- Create more inclusive environments for all to live, work, play and pray
- Gain public recognition for their efforts
