ADL Partners with Northwestern University’s Resident Advisors
Date: October 5, 2009
The League recently trained Northwestern University's staff of 130 undergraduate and graduate residence hall advisors (RA) on hate crimes, bias incidents, and protected free speech. The training focused on effective ways to combat bigotry on campus and to be responsive to students' concerns. The League has offered this training to Northwestern University's RAs for numerous years.
Virginia Koch, Northwestern's Senior Assistant Director of Residential Life, commented that "ADL's presentation helped our student staff understand the prevalence of hate crimes and bias incidents on college campuses; the impact these incidents have on the entire campus community; and their role in appropriately responding in a timely and caring manner. ADL staff provide a learning experience which is truly creditable, well-researched, and engaging."
