ADL Highlights Latest Trends in White Supremacist World to Law Enforcement Leaders

Date: November 2, 2009

ADL's staff recently trained over 175 law enforcement professionals from the Chicago Police Department, FBI, and Cook County Sheriff's Office on hate crimes and extremism.  The League was invited to present on behalf of Chicago Superintendent Jody Weis' Speaker Series.

ADL presented information on the white supremacist movement in America including neo-Nazis, racist skinheads, traditional White Supremacists as well as Christian Identity and Racist Prison Gangs. A detailed training on hate crime laws in Illinois was provided, which engaged the audience in relevant hate crime case studies in the state.

Additionally, the session concluded with a presentation on the symbols used by members of these hate groups.  Attendees left with a basic understanding of the size, ideology, tendencies, activities, leaders, and trends of the movement.
